Both Margaret and Denis entries are crossed through although Margaret was reinstated on a later page. Elsewhere in the 1939 register ammendments have been made when names changed by marriage etc. Margaret was probably deleted in error. Denis?

As the register date was 29 September 1939 and war had been declared James was most likely taken to live with his grandparrents by Ann who then returned to London.

There are also two 'Closed' entries which are likely to be the Peter and Mary Shea, then 18, the son and daughter of Denis and Margaret. A record remains 'Closed' untill 100years after the person died or when a request is made to have the file opened upon proof of death. Tere is a record of the death of a Mary Shea, aged 0, in 1921 in Merthyr so she may have already been dead.
